Malvern has a choice this election.
Christina Zigouras - Independent candidate for Malvern
I'm Christina Zigouras and I'm a small business owner, building designer, educator and the mum of two twenty-somethings standing as an independent candidate for the Malvern electorate in the 2026 Victorian State Election.
I believe Malvern deserves a representative who listens to the community, acts on principle and focuses on practical, real-world solutions, rather than following a party line and answering to big-money donors. I brings real-world experience and a commitment to common sense, integrity and evidence-based decision-making, with respect for both your wallet and the planet.
Over my career, I've worked in manufacturing, education, design and served as a board director, all of which brings decades of real-world experience to my campaign to become the Community Independent for Malvern.
Why I'm running
My decision to run is fundamentally about the future.
As a mum of two young adults, I want the next generation to inherit a Victoria that is safe, affordable, prosperous and environmentally sustainable, and one with the same opportunities previous generations have enjoyed.
I believe Victoria needs change. The cost of living and housing are putting increasing pressure on families, young people and small businesses; the state's finances are under strain; and much more needs to be done on climate change and to protect the environment.
Practical, real-world experience
I have built a 35-year career outside politics.
As a small business owner, I know what it means to be responsible for getting things done, solving problems and delivering results.
As a building designer, I understand the challenges around housing, development, affordability and sustainability.
As an educator, I understand the importance of giving young people the skills and opportunities they need to build a good future, especially in the age of AI.
My experience also spans manufacturing and board directorship, which give me a practical understanding of how businesses and organisations operate.
Most importantly, I believe being a good representative starts with listening. That means hearing different perspectives, understanding people's concerns, looking at the evidence and working to find practical solutions and common ground.
Malvern has a choice
Malvern has been represented by the Liberal Party for generations. I don't believe any electorate should be taken for granted.
This election isn't simply about choosing between political parties. It's about choosing who will best represent our community.
Fundamentally, most of us want the same things: safe communities, opportunity, a better future for our kids, and politicians who answer to us, not political parties.
As an independent, I will be free to consider each issue on its merits, listen to the community and experts, examine the evidence and take a long-term view.
My priorities are integrity, accountability and transparency in government; crime and safety; housing affordability; sustainable economic growth; and climate and the environment.
My approach is simple: listen, act with authenticity and integrity, and work hard to find practical solutions that respect people's wallets and the planet.
Independent. Evidence-based. Focused on Malvern.
Christina won't be told how to vote by a political party or big money donors.
She will listen, examine the evidence and make decisions based on what will deliver the best outcomes for Malvern and Victoria for the long-term.
Because democracy isn't something we simply watch from the sidelines. It's a participatory sport, and right now, it's calling all of us to join in.
Help give Malvern a genuine choice this November.
